A Day In The Life Of A Business Development Specialist

Background

I began my career in Hospitality many years ago working for the Fitzpatrick Hotel Group in Bunratty Co. Clare working in various departments and eventually working my way up to Bar Manager.  

I enthusiastically took to this role and implemented changes in the training and to achieve high standards of service within the team, we created new offerings for the customer. This role enabled me to be creative and make brave decisions that increased footfall and profits.  

Job satisfaction & fulfilment is so important, and this is what I got when I worked in hospitality and working with the public.  

I moved to similar hospitality roles for a few years. I then decided to move away from the unsociable hours and changed careers to utilise my accumulated skills and apply these to the next part of my career journey where I acquired a role in the telecommunications Industry for 15yrs. Here it took time to settle into a cooperate structure but soon found my stride which opened the door to great opportunities and experience. I quickly developed and moved to various departments and roles within the Business, such as Customer Service, Retention Sales, Corporate Accounts, SME Accounts, Coaching and Team Leading roles.   

I was involved in developing and implementing changes that was business led to improve how the company operated the aim of this project was to increase the customer base and market share in Ireland. During my time there I went back to college studying Business & Customer Relations.  

Working With OBW

Here I am today in OBW Technologies, and I am so happy in my Sales role. No day is ever the same.  

The company has grown so much. In my department alone there has been three new sales team members since I started here back in August 2022.  

My role involves more than just sales, this is whole new industry & type of customer. The role requires a lot of technical learning, we work to develop the business. This involves dipping in and out of so many different industries, you are building & maintaining relationships, travelling the country Liaising with all departments within the company. We have a team that is building and maintaining a strong customer base.
